A Bit of History…
I started my journey in the mechanic business way back in 1987 at Andy’s Garage in Mission Hills, Ca. Dropped off by my father, renowned 300SL Mercedes Restorer Scott Grundfor at my first “real” job and carrying my diminutive toolbox with me, I began what would be a long, diverse and successful career in automotive repair.
My first task at Andy’s was to take apart air cooled Volkswagen’s learning a great deal about the inner workings of cars in general along the way. Today my knowledge goes well beyond what it takes to accomplish what I was tasked with in my first job, but it was exactly my first experiences at Andy’s that would leave an indelible mark on me regarding my future career as a mechanic, namely a work ethic based around customer service and doing the job right.
I am an ASC certified mechanic and have worked across the State of California in many of the top European Garages all the while gaining valuable experience in the field I decided to make my career in. Over the years at these elite garages I have accumulated the knowledge of both technical know how regarding all things European cars as well as the equally important skills regarding customer experience and giving the customer what they expect… honest straightforward diagnosis of the issues concerning their car and how best to go about fixing those problems in the best way possible at the smallest expense possible. Being at some of the best European specific garages in California has allowed me to see both the positives and negatives in the business. Everyone wants great service and honest diagnosis of their car and it is my belief that more positives than negatives should be available for the customer to experience. This has led me to branch out on my own with International Auto Service here in SLO to deliver a superior brand of mechanical repair service.
I also have experience working on the finest collector cars in the world as well. From the 1950’s and early 60’s 300SL Mercedes-Benz’ to vintage luxury cars of the 30’s and 40’s, I have gained an incredible amount of appreciation for the automotive past. These days not too many of these sorts of cars come through my well oiled garage doors, but the experience and care it took to maintain and fix the classics remains with me to this day and I do my best to transfer that experience and care to your car, your investment.
I want all my customers to be satisfied with my work and I believe I have the experience and history in the mechanic trade to make sure that is the case, every time, GUARANTEED!
